EMDR THERAPY
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Now recognised by the (NICE) and world Health organization as a treatment of choice for post-traumatic stress disorder. EMDR is also used for phobias, stress, anxiety, panic attacks and many other issues. Most of the time our body routinely manages new information and experiences without us being aware of it. However there can be occasions when a traumatic event happens and we are caught off balance and unable to cope with the feelings (i.e a car accident) The feelings can feel like overload and trigger past feelings which are trapped in the nervous system.
FAMILY/SYSTEMIC THERAPY
Family and systemic therapy is a counselling approach which seeks to address an issue/issues arising in a family without the stigmatisation of one individual. Rather, the approach views the family as component parts of a whole (family) system, valuing each person's individual perspective and experience whilst trying to find new solutions to current problems. Interactional patterns and dynamics between each family member is given attention and often brings about new awareness for the family in relation to the problem. Whole or parts of families can be seen in the therapy sessions.
