Service Description

Who is the course for? This course is aimed at counsellors and psychotherapists who have an interest in extending the range of their therapeutic knowledge and skills when working with people who have experienced trauma. It aims to teach relevant skills of TF CBT in a way that respects the thinking and practice of other therapeutic orientations. What will be covered? The morning will be an introduction to the basic tenets of CBT and the physiology of trauma. In the afternoon we will examine the Cognitive and Behavioural understanding of trauma and explore how these ideas translate into practice. Using case examples, we will examine not only the differences but the similarities between CBT and other models of therapy and explore ways of integrating CBT into current practice. Course Tutor: Adrian is an HCPC registered Chartered Counselling Psychologist as well as a Psychotherapist. He has had many years of experience working as a practitioner in the NHS and third sector organisations. He also worked as Research Fellow at the University of Sussex, was Professional Head of Psychology for a primary care mental health team in Kent and director of Sussex Alcohol and Substance use
