Attachment & Relationship in Therapy
Understanding Attachment and Relationship in the Therapy room
Service Description
The day will be experiential and we will be working with our understanding of our own attachment/relational style as well as that of our client and what impact that might have on the therapeutic relationship and the work. This will be lighter on theory with more emphasis on learning creatively and experimenting in groups. We hope that this will be an illuminating and helpful training in understanding ourself and our client better, working with the notion of co-creation.We will have the ground floor Garden Room at the Gerrards Cross Community Association with doors leading to the garden which we hope to utilise for small group work (in the sunshine!) This is what the trainer has to say about what the day will entail: Co-creation and Intersubjectivity Therapy is not just about one person 'doing something' to another - it is a relationship; a relationship formed of two individuals who together, make something new. This workshop will focus on the notions of intersubjectivity and co-creation; what happens when two people with subjective realities come together to make sense of one person's world in a relational way. How can we best use our "selves" in best service of the therapeutic relationship? What are the strengths and potential pitfalls of this? What in ourselves do we bring that helps the therapy, and how might we inadvertently hinder the work? In this workshop we will use creative mediums to explore how we are impacted by our clients and how we impact them in return; then how we might understand this impact in a way that casts light on the client's presenting dilemmas.
